Unemployment in Spain has fallen to just over 22%. The figures reflect an increase in new jobs for the months of April, May, June 2015.
This represents the largest fall in the unemployment figures since 2005.
It is a further sign, along with improvements in the housing market, that Spain is slowly beginning to recover from the dramatic crash in the economy.
The figures equate to 4111,800 new jobs for the quarter. The unemployment figure now stands at 5,149,000.
Many economists expect this trend to continue, with Spain forecast to be one of the fastest growing economies over the next 2-3 years.
What has lead to these improvements?
The sizeable increase in employment figures can largely be put down to seasonal positions linked to the travel and tourism industries. Spain has seen an increase in tourists in recent months, so much so that certain areas are considering methods to cap tourist numbers. The issues in Greece and Tunisia have certainly had an effect on holidaymakers, with Spain benefiting.
